Ferret Math

Money is terrible. I hate money. But now that my paycheck has gone through I can use that money to buy food, pay bills, get gas, and most importantly afford Rudyard a companion.

I'm in a wee bit of a pickle, however. I'm going to go to the shelter with Rudyard so he can pick out his own best friend, but I seem to have gotten myself in a bind with someone from Craigslist.com. They are trying to sell their ferret nation cage AND their ferret for $200 (which is an AMAZING price) but I can't afford it if I'm getting one baby at the shelter. I sent the guy an email, asking if he's willing to part with ferret-and-not-cage for $100, and he said yes.

It's hard to say no to critters from Craigslist. There is so much potential for a terrible person to come and swoop in, taking that critter away to a miserable life. What if a parent gets a ferret for their two-year old? What if the ferret is deaf? What if the ferret is not good with other animals, or certain types of people, or hates babies?

And the other side of the coin is, how do people posting on Craigslist know they are giving their critters away to someone who cares? And do they even care if the critter goes somewhere?

I got so lucky with Rudyard and Edgar. I found them through Craigslist. But I can't guarantee that it could happen so perfectly every time. I hope that Milkshake is just as cool as any other ferret I've fallen in love with.

This is what all the books and websites and owners have warned me about: ferret math!
(when you just keep getting more and more and more ferrets.....)
