Jack and Chuchundra

Jack seems to have a fascination with Chuchundra's residence. He is always trying to climb her desk and see her. On occasion, I will pick him up and let him sniff Chuchundra through the her bars, but I always put him back down. I do this in hopes it satiates his curiousity, but in truth it simply makes it worse. Now, more than ever, he wants to be where Chuchundra is.

Well, since Jack is a gentle beast and does not bite for fun the way MoMo and Rudyard do, Sam and I decided to pick Jack up and open Chuchundra's cage door. We were not going to let them run about, but we were curious to see how they would fare with nose-to-nose contact.

Both Sam and I were surprised how fearless Chuchundra seemed against her natural predator. They sniffed each other for a bit, neither showing any aggression--simply interest.

Then, because Jack is Jack and loves his things, Jack tried to pick Chuchundra up (with his teeth of course). This caused an immediate separation, a stern scruffing on Jack's behalf, and lots of cooing on Chuchundra's (who, by the way, had definitely readied herself in a defensive posture and was not afraid to strike back at her predator).

In conclusion, even though Jack is sweet and does not bite for pleasure, he is possessive and wants to stash all pretty things. Chuchundra is certainly a pretty thing, and I'm sure if she was capable of thinking outside of her herding animal instincts, she would be very flattered.
