Galactic Quest and the Tiki Zombie Luau

My buddy Rebecca asked me earlier this week if I wanted to hula as a zombie, and I said sure! But I don't know how to hula. Youtube.com let me some basic movements I should know, though, and I was fully prepared to ham my way up into this awesome little party.

The hosts were the fan-tabulous Galactic Quest and they were celebrating the release of a new comic, Tiki Zombie. I got to meet everyone who worked on the comic which excited me beyond what I could express (I couldn't show my feelings towards the staff due to the fact that I was a mindless brainless abomination). I did my part though by harassing them diligently. I can only hope I brought the fear of the Zombie apocalypse to their brilliant consciousness. It is good to know I can do my part.

Not only did I acquire my own copy of the comic (a gift from Michael Gordon, the writer of this wonderful creation), I was also able to purchase a sketchbook from Peter Cutler, the artist of the group.  His sketchbook was a mere $5 AND he would draw a sketch of whatever-you-wanted as you sat there watching him.

Well, I suppose you didn't have to; but by this point I was very good at it. I had been a zombie for about an hour and a half and even though some witch from beyond had granted me the wish to become a Real Human Girl, I was still of zombie mind-set. I'm sure Peter Cutler was not keen on the hovering, I know I wouldn't be, but I just couldn't help it. I tried to make myself get distracted and go socialize with other Human Beans such as myself. It was difficult.

I did learn a thing-or-two about Peter Cutler's drawing style. This is something I had never witnessed, and it is probably due to the fact that I am a backwards yokel who's never officially gone to art school, but Peter Cutler takes his magnificent micro-pens and PAINTS with them.

I kid you not.
Paints. With pens.
As in, treats them like a brush. Every stroke is a delicate descent down the page, a precise and rhythmic thought. It was quite beautiful. I learned that it pays to be creepy!

This is what I got:
Isn't it fabulous?
And its unique to me only. There is no other copy of it. Well, I guess except this one, because I took a picture of it on my webcam. But its not a really great picture, because the real one is the best. The End.

So, this whole experience ultimate gives me hope. Hope that one day, there will be another party and it will be all about ME and my comic book I'm releasing. Because I still hold tight to the dream that one day I will be published and people will want to buy my artwork too.
