Coloring Pages for the Older Individual preview

Coloring Pages for the Older Individual would be most ideally for any mature person who enjoys coloring but finds the classic coloring books to be dull and non-challenging.

The warning label on it will say something like, "Caution: Nudity and Gratuitous Violence." And it may say something like, "For the more mature individuals." But I refuse to make it an "For 18 and Older" type-of-book. To limit younger folks from a coloring book that challenges the ability to color is a moronic idea, and I refuse to play in that field. I know that it will get some folks upset because they may not want their children to be exposed to certain things, but I feel that it would be in the parents' hands to limit their children's exposure to what they deem as "appropriate."

With that said and done, here is one coloring page that I find thoroughly unoffensive and not terribly difficult as far as coloring goes:
Each image in the book will have a title and a short description. For example, this is called "I Hate Bows." The description may be a story, such as "Priscella plotted revenge on her parents. How dare they put her in this monkey suit and parade her about the party? Especially since Mr. Bear didn't have to."

Or it may give the artist's thoughts on the image while she (me) created it: "Most little girls like dressing up. I thought it would be fun to have a little girl that hated to dress up."

For those who enjoy simply coloring without thinking, there should be plenty of opportunity to just fill in spaces. One could look at it as simply a girl in a dress.

However, for the meticulous painter, there are a lot of small itty bitty details within each image. The little girl above has two socks, which could match or could be two separate colors if she dressed herself; she has buckles that snap over her shoes; she has frill and fluff inside her dress that poke out under the skirt and at the sleeves; she has bows and a teddy bear. The teddy bear looks well-loved, so its colors could be bright in some spots and faded in others.

It all depends.

My hope is that the pages will be in good quality cardstock so coloring can be done in pencil, pen, crayon, marker, paint, and etc. I also want them to have perforated sides so those who really like their coloring schemes can take the image out and post them on walls or where-ever.

One more example of a possible coloring page, one that is much more complex:

There are tons of things going on in this picture and the choice of color detail is entirely up to the person who is coloring it. Look at the clothing; the designs, the ripples, the cuffs. There is jewelry, there are stripes, there is a belt! This one would be much more advanced than the previous and may require a bit more color scheming. But who knows? If you're good at coloring, you may see all the colors on the page before you've filled them in!

So, here we are. This is my next big plan. Cha cha cha!
