Citizenship

I walk into the living room, the ferrets are about. I say,

"I now decree that all ferrets are citizens of this household. This means that you are like people, which means that you have a higher status than children (minors) because you can both VOTE and DRINK."

All the ferrets are looking at me while I declare this. Jack is halfway out of a box. We make eye contact and I ask him, "What say you?"

In response, he lowers his head to the floor and looks at me with apathy.

You know, if more ferrets used their voting rights and spoke out with their personal opinions, maybe things would be DIFFERENT in this country. Er. Household.
